Mary Bywater Cross
As a quilt historian and quilt artist, I draw on traditional techniques, styles, patterns, and fabrics for my one-of-a kind wall and bed quilts. My Monticello, Iowa grandmother introduced me to woolen quilts in 1968 when she presented me with a stack of wool squares and a button bag and requested a quilt. My quilts are created from fabric swatch books, mills I visit, and special artist and/or client-owned woolens. This can be an opportunity to commission a piece from a family plaid. These woolen quilts are perfect for the NW environment, light-weight and breathable yet cozy and warm.
